God bless you my brother.condolences to your families.well done for the wonderful works you have done for your community.I was there to be a witness to it for myself.always remember that warm smile you carry.even in difficult times.i know you’re in God know.R.I.P.
My family and I are extremely grateful for the great community leader that he was. And the kindness that he extended to myself and children… My children went to the same school as his daughter syreeta, and he would collect my children from Kensal rise infants school and bring them home to me in Kilburn, every day, which was a great help to me at the time. He remained a part of my childrens life by being a mentor/father figure to my son. RIEP Leonard. ❤️
A noble , great leader and Worrior King
His legacy will live on for ever
It was my pleasure to know him and see the determination and insight he had
May he shower us with light as he move on to the next dimension
Leonard was the kind of guy you’d want on your team. He had strength, bravery, and natural leadership. He fought for those who couldn’t fight for themselves and didn’t let anyone, regardless of their status or skin color, stand in his way. It’s clear that his family and closest friend, will deeply miss him. On behalf of the Brown family, we offer our condolences to Leonard’s loved ones. It’s a real loss. Claret Brown
I totally agree with the things that has already been said about the late Honourable Leonard Johnson. Many in our society carries the name brand and titles but
Leonard although not serenaded in this life, stood miles above many who believed they were better,
wiser and more worthy of the role which only Leonard was able to fulfilled. Despite all that has been said about him, his personality was so large that it is hard to fully express all that he was and how he impacted the lives of others,
particularly the youth he represented in his community. Leonard was totally committed to his vision to see young people in Stonebridge off the street
and their time, gifting, talent and energy channelled into a more positive and creative activities, promoting a positive self-image, self-
respect, self-confidence and hope for their future. He stood for justice, equity and equality and was a strong advocate for the young black youth of Stonebridge whom he believed
deserved an equal slice of the cake. He acted as a good role- model to them. He also was a voice to the voiceless.
Although he faced much opposition, he remained fearless and undeterred in his passion
to see young black men and women discover their true identity and break free from the social political and religious constraints imposed upon them by a racist society.
Leonard was a Peacemaker and did not subscribe to any violent reaction on the part of the
young black youths despite the misrepresentation by unjust governmental laws which made them the scapegoat of society. Rather he encouraged the black youths to channel their energy
into more productive endeavours and to rise above the pitfalls they faced regardless of what form this took. Leonard was highly intelligent, very knowledgeable and well-read and could put to shame the
wise and scholarly of this world. He was able to communicate with the wise and powerful
as well as to the very base and lowly alike. He was classy, well-spoken, well-dressed and a man with great etiquette and decorum. He was very respectful of everyone regardless of their status, particularly those whom society considered a nobody and not deserving of respect.
Leonard’s children were his pride and joy and he often referred to them as his biggest
achievement.
I am so happy to hear that a plaque will be erected in his honour. He will always be
remembered fondly by my family and I and will never be forgotten
Leonard, many would not know or understand the demons you faced , the sellouts you avoided for us, the intensity of the struggle for order in the complexity and chaos that was the HPCC and the Bus Garage Project and, the crushing weight of responsibility on your shoulders. I salute you for unwavering leadership even when you were ‘ in the wrong’ , you never ceased to lead. and, yes, we expect too much of our leaders.I trust God that you will rest in peace with Him. May you always remain in the hearts of your children , close family and friends as a beacon of hope. So glad to have shared time in this life with you. Rest in peace my friend. Kathie.

Got to know the lovely Leonard Johnson whilst helping to work with him and other colleagues regarding in keeping the Community spirits high. Leonard was an exceptional guy to have pulled of the best thing for the Stonebridge community by securing Bridge Park for everyone’s future. I’ve seen all types of events held at Bridge Park and boy did the community come together in everyone. There were quite a few times that the hall upstairs was so packed people were spilling out onto the stairways and onto the Lobby. All that was down to Leonard and his other friends who supported him too. I am privelidge to have met and known Leonard who was a lovely funny guy. A man who’s name will live on for a very very long time in the Bridge Park Community. Complex. May he RIEP❤️
