To Star, Jenny, Sam and Sarah. We the Owner Family would like to say a Big Thank You for sharing your mum with us. It’s very difficult losing a precious Mother as we too lost our precious mum too. But God’s Precious strength, healing, comfort and special people in your lives to help along the journey. My prayers for us all is for us to continue to share that love relationship that Auntie and our late mother Daphne shared. God bless! Much Love to all.
Tribute from Rosemond Owner: A Tribute to Our Loving Auntie
Auntie Gertrude was the only Friend and Sister to my late mother Daphne. They loved and care for each other deeply. Auntie Gertrude was deeply loved by us children. Growing up we clearly remember experiencing that indelible love from our dearest auntie. As such our first TV and fridge came all the way from the UK from our beloved Auntie Gertrude. As kids we were so excited and thankful. Christmas that year still holds fond memories and great joy in our hearts because of what Auntie did for us all. Not forgetting “our Christmas Box “each year containing those Walnuts that almost cut up our little fingers cracking them open. But we loved it and look forward to auntie sending lots for us. Auntie Gertrude’s deep love, care and generosity is too much to mention. As such mum would have us as kids insert a thank you in our own words whenever she wrote to Auntie. As things began to advance and it was time to make that collect call to Auntie. That again was a very joyous occasion and we were all allotted a few seconds to say hello to Auntie. Auntie knew us and call of all by our individual names. We were special to her and she was Extra Special to us. So much so it wasn’t until we were adults that we found out they weren’t biological sisters. Not sure my late mum would be happy with me sharing that. But I am just sharing such to show the symbiotic and unconditional love Auntie Gertrude and my late mum Daphne shared during their precious lifetime on this earth. It was a matchless friendship that God blossomed into a one-of-a-kind sisterly relationship. So much to share about my Auntie Gertrude. I personally owe her my thanks of which God allowed me to share with her on many occasions for encouraging me to come to the UK to practice as a Registered Nurse! Still it’s my best and remain my best years of nursing practice. Thank you Auntie
May your soul rest in peace. God allowed you to share your life, work, resources and happiness with many whilst on earth. Thank you, thank you Auntie!
I never had the pleasure of meeting your mother, however, a glance at her photograph tells a strong story.
A story of a strong, black woman. A woman who raised her children to very high standards in spite of the overarching challenges of the time. Because of these challenges and difficulties, she in turn raised strong, courageous, hardworking professionals who have and continue to make their mark on this postwar England.
Your mother, grandmother did her work well. As a mother and as a dedicated community woman.
I’ll always remember the time we spent working together in elderly care. You were such a kind, warm and genuine person, and your laughter could brighten even the busiest of days. It was honestly never a dull day working alongside you!
I’m grateful for the memories, the laughs and the moments we shared. You will be deeply missed, but your beautiful spirit and infectious laughter will always be remembered. ️❤️
Rest peacefully, my friend. You will never be forgotten.
