My mum made an impression simply by being herself. I will always remember her unmistakable Jamaican voice, her laughter, her stories, her generosity and the way she showed love through the practical things she did for others. She welcomed people, fed them, helped them and made them feel cared for. She loved her family deeply, especially Dad, her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. I will miss her enormously, but I know her voice, her love and the memories she gave us will remain with all of us always. She may be silent now, but she will never be forgotten.
My Nanny was such a special part of my life, and I will miss her more than I can put into words. I will always remember her smile, her little giggle, her dancing, her strength and the way she could make even the simplest moments feel special. I will remember our trips to the shops, playing Eye Spy, sitting and talking, and, of course, her amazing chicken and rice. But most of all, I will remember the way she said my name – “HADAM.” No one else will ever say it quite like she did. I wish I could have one more conversation, one more dance, one more plate of chicken and rice, and one more moment with her. But I know I have something precious that no one can take away: all the memories she gave me. I will carry my Nanny in my heart as I grow older, and I hope that somehow, wherever she is, she will always know how much I love her.

My hero my queen my mum was a force of nature. She was loud, funny, strong-minded and full of life. She always had something to say, always wanted to know what was going on, and somehow managed to make her presence known wherever she went.
She loved music, singing, dancing and having a good laugh. Those are the things I want to remember most the sound of her voice, her laughter, her energy and the happiness she brought into our lives.
I know I will miss her terribly I will miss the phone calls, the conversations and simply knowing that Mum was there.
But Mum was never someone who would want us to remember her only with sadness. So when we hear music, or hear someone singing laughing or dancing, I hope we smile and think of her.
Mum, you were truly one of a kind. Thank you for the life, love and memories you gave us. We love you, and we will never forget you until we meet again love your son Colin XXX.
