Colin was an outstanding man of integrity and good character. He had a pure heart like a lion. In fact, he was a humble lion; courageous, gentle, kind and strong. His dedication, commitment and loyalty to family and friends will be deeply missed.

Known by his deejaying moniker, the Brixton Hitman, he’d mash up the Bay Area dancehall with infectious baselines and catchy reggae and lover’s rock beats. His DJing wasn’t just good; it was legendary, leading to the foundation of English Pound Radio. Hearing his distinctive voice on the airwaves in San Francisco, England, Jamaica and around the globe was an instant signal, “ the good vibes were about to flow!”

Just like in the music he played, Colin was authentic, cheerful and charismatic. He often gave more than he received. He was a highly principled man.

May Colin’s journey in the celestial kingdom be filled with delight. May his music in the ancestral realm send melodies of love, self-determination, unity and good will to all. May his warrior spirit lead us into a bright future where good , right order will triumph over all.

Today we will say farewell to a true selector of souls. The riddims may fade, but your spirit keeps playing on in every beat, every memory, every smile you brought. Rest easy, King — your music lives forever. ❤️

Colin Broomfield aka Brixton Man. I met Colin in the late 70s Through his stepbrother Godfrey. From that time Colin and I became two pea in a pot. He was the most charming, caring, funny and handsome man. He had a laugh you would never forget.

I have lots of memories . Soccer on Saturdays morning. Laughing in the corner at a family party.
Parties, clubs and concerts. Also being roommates. Listening to the Best lovers Rock straight from London..

He was a person who gave his all to others. A very humble Human being.

I’m truly grateful and blessed that he was apart of my live with great times and laughs we had together .

May Colin’s Journey continue to live on within each and everyone of us listening to the best in reggae/lovers rock.

    Love you Colin

    Rest In Peace in Heaven

I still remember Colin (Brixton Hitman) running his show from the room. He’d never miss a beat and would always be on time to be there for his listeners. Loved his family and his precious nephews and niece for sure. Such a kind, easy-going person. He will certainly be missed. ❤️

We have only wonderful, happy memories of Colin. He was such a kind, thoughtful, and always pleasant person — the kind of person who always made the room brighter with that raucous, joyful laugh. Whenever Colin laughed, the whole room lit up.

He was the perfect host when Jackie, Jordan, and I stayed with him during our vacation in 2018. He made us feel completely at home, and that warmth and generosity truly reflected the kind of person he was. My Mom remembers how kind and thoughtful Colin was when we first met him in Jamaica in 2005. That did not change, was just who he was.

I’ll always cherish the times we spent hanging out together at Soph and Tony’s home, by Ken and Aie. Watching him with his niece and nephews was a joy. I also had the privilege of visiting his studio and watching the Brixton Hitman at work — seeing him in his element, doing what he loved, was another special memory.

Colin will be deeply missed, but the joy he brought into our lives will stay with us always. His laughter, his kindness, and his gentle spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
