I met Grafton through his wife Monica. She and I both worked at Springfield hospital and as we became good friends I got to know Grafton. Grafton was a great craftsman. Whenever we needed something fixed or built, we could always rely on him to do a great job. We were not the only people he helped. He and Monica were great supporters of the
Friends of the heart foundation Jamaica over many years.
Grafton was always bright and positive, devoted to Monica and their daughter Fiona, and always ready with a joke and a laugh.
Monica and Fiona, we are so sad for the loss of such a kind and gentle man, and pray that you will feel God’s comfort as you say goodbye and celebrate his life.
In Memory of Grafton
On behalf of the entire Clarke family, we want to express our deepest condolences on the passing of Grafton. He was so much more than just a friend to our father; he was a brother in spirit and a foundational part of our family’s story for as long as we can remember. His kindness, his wit, and the steadfast loyalty he showed to those he loved made a lasting impact on all of us. We are sharing in your grief and holding your family close in our thoughts as we remember a truly remarkable man who will be missed beyond measure.
Only having met Uncle as an adult, he welcomed me from the first day as if he had known me since childhood. Uncle was always reaching out to check on me and my family. During his visits to Barbados, we would go to his house to catch up, and I fondly remember my daughter’s first steps at Uncle’s home during his visit in 2009. He was always busy trying to fix things around the house, as he liked to keep himself occupied. His hospitality was equally warm when I overnighted in England in 2018; despite the short duration of my stay, Uncle took me to the mall and patiently waited while I shopped, we returned to his home and shared a meal and talked. Uncle made those few hours truly memorable. A genuine family man who cared deeply for those around him, Uncle will be greatly missed.
